Week in review

MONDAY: Returned bleary-eyed to work after a weekend celebrating Rob's dad's 60th birthday party in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Learned that my work team would be heading to Atlanta later in the week. Bid my co-worker Harold a fond adieu as he heads for Los Angeles in search of a better, warmer life working for a company that isn't merging with another company.

TUESDAY: Reconnected with my friends Kim and Michael from Cork Tree Consulting to plan our next moves. Kim has been busy setting up our vehicle for consulting outside of main work, and we've got plenty of ideas about what to do next. In other news, Kim's brother Guy Harrington has a self-titled album on itunes. Go buy it! It rocks! My favorite track so far - Oh Jane. Wait, no - Raygun. Wait...

WEDNESDAY: Morning started with a top-secret meeting that I can't tell you about. We'll call it Operation Big Bird. Moved on to work, thought about preparing to meet with the Delta Overlords (just kidding guys, it was nice to meet you all). Moved on from work and to CapitolRiver Council's annual meeting. I was up for re-election, and thankfully got voted back in. If I hadn't gotten re-elected, I was thinking that maybe I'd feign hurt and renounce all volunteer efforts thus realizing more time to slack off and be uninvolved. Ah, the best laid plans...

THURSDAY: Took the 5:30am flight to Atlanta. Saw Nader on the news attacking Obama for not being liberal enough. I thought he was simultaneously launching his 2008 presidential campaign and attacking Obama, but it turns out that Nader must have launched his campaign awhile ago. I don't have the specifics - I'm sure Nader is out there pounding the pavement talking about issues. The only thing I caught on tv, though, was the vague attack that is not based on issues. This serves as my 2008 reminder that the issue of campaign conduct falls on the shoulders of many, not just the candidates themselves, the outside party attack ad-makers, or the media alone.

The Delta Overlords (just kidding, guys!) were gracious hosts and kind taskmasters. They took us to Hambones, a fabulous rib joint near the airport for lunch. The sweet tea made the whole thing feel a little less like an assessment or interview.

FRIDAY: Back to work. So happy to see my friend Elizabeth at work. Elizabeth is the style editor at Minnesota Monthly. She thinks her work can be unglamorous at times, but I would welcome a job that had so many different things going on at once. Here is Elizabeth at work:

SATURDAY: And now it is Saturday and I am missing the Indiana Fiddlers Gathering in Battle Ground, Indiana. My mom, sister, nephew, and all of their respective friends who are also my friends are probably having a great time listening to music, eating the Lion's Club of Battle Ground donuts, and enjoying the great weather and fine company. If you are reading this and you are withing 6 hours of Battle Ground, Indiana, you should get over there RIGHT NOW.

I need quiet time so much, I'm missing THIS (see above).

Quiet time will be not so quiet, because I'm going out to the river, getting in my boat, and floating around for awhile so I can get a good look at a smoke stack demolition! KA-BAM!!!
